After a mostly forgettable tour of Missouri’s NFL landscape, Nick Foles is returning to Philadelphia.
The Eagles announced Monday they have signed the quarterback to a two-year deal, bringing him back just over two years after they traded him away to acquire Sam Bradford.
Foles left Philadelphia as the starter but will return as the backup to Carson Wentz. Then again, it was an impressive showing in relief of then-starter Michael Vick in 2013 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions in 13 games (10 starts) that put Foles on the map in the first place.
It caused quite the altercation with members of both camps, yelling obscenities at the other.
J.E. might’ve dropped an an album titled Hard back in 2003, but their mothers didn’t raise any fools. Fairley, a six-year NFL veteran, is 6-4, tips the scales at nearly 300 pounds and is super aggressive. He makes his living rushing folks, and when he’s ticked, it can take multiple able-bodied, fully-grown American football players to move him anywhere. Four dudes who make their money harmonizing weren’t about to press the issue physically. The group’s set was ultimately cut short.
The whole ordeal was utterly ridiculous. Fairly could’ve just fell back, let those brothers do their job and enjoyed the show. Like one of the group members shouted during the incident, It ain’t about you.
Pete Rose, who finally joined the Reds Hall of Fame in 2016, is now up for a similar honor with the Phillies.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that baseball’s all-time hits leader is one of 10 candidates to be honored this year on the Phillies Wall of Fame.
But expect some debate over Rose’s nomination. NJ.com announced his nomination with the headline, Pete Rose eligible for Phillies Wall of Fame: Does he deserve honor?
Fans can vote for Rose’s Phillies Wall nomination on the team’s website . A selection committee will take the top five in votes and select one for enshrinement on the wall in August. The display is in Ashburn Alley behind the outfield wall in Citizens Bank Park.
Other candidates include Steve Bedrosian, Larry Christenson, Jim Fregosi, Gene Garber, Placido Polanco, Ron Reed, Scott Rolen, Manny Trillo, and Rick Wise.
Romero had been suspended April 7 for violating team rules but was reinstated last week. He pitched in relief Friday and Sunday against Connecticut in what turned out to be his final appearances for the 20th-ranked Cougars (31-17).
We wish Seth and his family the best of luck as he embarks on the next phase of his life and baseball career, Houston coach Todd Whitting said in a release. We are fully focused on our remaining schedule and the current members of our program.
Safe to say, Domenic Mazza has shaken off the home run he gave up to Tim Tebow.
Mazza, a Giants minor leaguer, threw a nine-inning perfect game Tuesday for Augusta (Ga.) against Lexington (Ky.) in the Single-A South Atlantic League. Mazza struck out nine batters; as impressively, he needed just 85 pitches (60 strikes); that’s a huge reason he was allowed to go all the way and toss the first nine-inning perfecto in league history.
My agent actually kept things pretty quiet, Zeitler said Thursday night while preparing to take an early-morning flight to Cleveland. I know on Day 1 a couple of teams came in and started talking. As it went on, it came down to New Orleans and Cleveland.
It sounded like Cleveland just offered the best deal. My agent suggested I go with it.
Further, Zeitler said, he hasn’t had the chance to talk with too many people in Cleveland as to what the team’s vision is for him, its plans to improve after a 1-15 season, or whether Browns coach Hue Jackson is using the same offensive concepts used when he was the Bengals’ offensive coordinator. About everything Zeitler knows about the Browns stems from having played against them as an AFC North rival for the past five seasons while with Cincinnati.
NFL head of officiating Dean Blandino on Thursday announced proposed rules changes for the 2017 season (via ProFootballTalk). The most surprising new rule would be that all penalties, including ones that were unreviewable in the past, could be challenged.
MLB Network host cards: Pretty self-explanatory. Now in a partnership with MLB Network, Topps has produced cards of various MLB Network personalities, analysts and hosts, include former players Harold Reynolds and John Smoltz, current studio hosts Greg Amsinger and Lauren Shehadi, and more.
Topps is expanding its First Pitch lineup, which features action shots of celebrity first pitches at ballgames. The celebrities featured include WIlliam Shatner, Joan Jett and Lou Ferrigno. (Sorry, 50 Cent.)
Topps has also reintroduced the Material Relic cards, which include pieces from specific player uniforms. A card is previewed below.
This year’s No. 1 card is Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant, who was selected by the fans in just the second year of the Vote for No. 1 Card contest. Last year, Angels outfielder Mike Trout took home the No. 1 card honors.
In a business that’s as straight forward as baseball cards, Topps has done an excellent job of producing fresh looks to keep fans, collectors and others interested in the hobby.
Below are previews from Series 1 of the 2017 catalog.
Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang accepted responsibility for his third DUI charge during a court hearing in Seoul on Wednesday and vowed to change his ways.
I deeply regret what I have done, Kang said, via Yonhap News. If I can get one last chance, I will become an exemplary player to earn respect from everyone.
Harbaugh’s not interested in that stuff, though. He says if a team wants a good football player, then go sign Kaepernick.
I’ll tell you the same thing I tell them: I think he’s an outstanding player and I think he’s a great competitor who has proven it in games and has the ability to be not only an NFL starter but a great NFL player, Harbaugh told PFT’s Mike Florio. He’ll have a great career and be a great quarterback, win championships.
Kaepernick’s options to be a starter somewhere are pretty limited now. Most teams already have found someone through free agency or plan to take a quarterback in the draft. And other teams just don’t want to deal with the attention Kaepernick would bring as a backup.
The former 49ers QB is still young (29) and showed some promise last season despite not having much talent surrounding him. He finished with 18 total touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games played.
The Angels apparently have decided to stick with their current stadium situation in Anaheim.
The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday that team owner Arte Moreno said the Angels now plan on playing in aging Angel Stadium through 2028. According to the Times, that’s when the team’s lease at the 51-year-old stadium runs out, although Moreno has until October 2018 to exercise an escape clause that would terminate the lease after the 2019 season.
Moore was slated to be Tony Romo’s backup last year but instead spent the season on injured reserve due to a broken leg suffered during the first week of training camp in August, ultimately opening the door for Prescott to take over under center and become a rookie sensation. Moore had previously played three games in 2015 after Romo was injured, completing 61 of 104 passes for 779 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions.
Poised to be Dallas’ No. 3 signal caller this season, Moore could end up competing for the No. 2 spot at camp this summer if the team eventually decides to release Romo.
Moore, 27, went undrafted in the 2012 but was later picked up by the Lions. He spent his first three seasons playing under Cowboys coordinator Scott Linehan in Detroit before signing with Dallas in September 2015.
Tommy Pham’s two-run homer in the top of the 14th lifted the Cardinals to a 6-4 win to complete a sweep in Atlanta. But the Braves thought they won the game three innings earlier.
Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte appeared to beat out a two-out, bases-loaded grounder down the first-base line. He was initially called out, but the call stood following a replay review despite Inciarte arriving at the bag just as Cardinals reliever Seung Hwan Oh received a toss from first baseman Matt Carpenter. The tie did not go to the runner and the inning was over.
“Obviously, that’s the game,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. “I was worried when I saw it in real time. Hats off to an umpire making a tough call against the home team.”
In a separate interview with MASN, Machado hinted he would “take care of business on my own” when the clubs meet again Wednesday.
“I lost my respect for the entire organization and Boston and how they are handling the whole situation,” Machado told MASN after gaining his composure following the tirade. “If Cheap Authentic Jerseys they want to hit me, hit me, go ahead. Get it over with, don’t keep lingering it around. I’ve lost mad respect for that team and organization. They are probably going to try to hit me again [tomorrow]. I’m just going to have to wear it and see what happens — if I have to take care of business on my own then I’m going have to do something.”
Matt Harvey is finding out the hard way that dating a supermodel can be tough.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports the Mets star pitcher was Cheap Blue Jays Jerseys out partying until 4 a.m. Saturday before skipping that day’s game, because he was “an emotional wreck” after seeing pictures of Adriana Lima with Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Harvey, according to Page Six, thought Lima was his girlfriend:
“Both the Victoria’s Secret stunner and the Patriots wide receiver — with whom she had broken up several months earlier — wore grins on their faces like they were having the time of their lives,” the Post wrote. “Inside the party, Lima and Edelman were ‘flirty,’ Post sources said. And, to add insult to injury, Lima unfollowed Harvey on Instagram after the event.”
It didn’t convince the Browns to keep him, even though everybody is as clear as they ever have been on how much money they have to throw around, thanks to their Brock Osweiler/draft pick gambit. However, the Browns still have a lot of convincing to do about their judgment. According the Cleveland Plain Dealer, when Pryor went back to the Browns after he met with Washington, the Browns offered less.
All the other reasons Pryor has to settle for one year in Washington have been on full, public, ugly display for the past week, as the franchise’s dirty laundry has been aired and the infrastructure has shown all its cracks, new and old.
Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber is mired in a terrible slump, hitting only .195 and leading the team in strikeouts with 43.
Those aren’t numbers most managers would want out of their leadoff hitter, but Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Wednesday he’s not giving up on his outside-the-box strategy this season to use Schwarber atop the lineup.
“As of right now I’m not ready to just give up on anything like that,” Maddon told reporters Wednesday, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “And his struggles are not anywhere based on him hitting leadoff. He’s just struggling.”
The issue came up before Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to the Rockies, because Maddon gave Anthony Rizzo the day off, and batted Schwarber in Rizzo’s usual No. 3 hole. That doesn’t mean he’s ready to move Schwarber out of the top spot.
The Mets starter is scheduled to get a second opinion on the partial tear in his right lat muscle Thursday in Los Angeles after an initial examination estimated he could miss up to three months, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
After being scratched from his scheduled start against the Braves last Thursday with biceps and shoulder discomfort, Syndergaard was forced to leave Sunday’s 23-5 loss to the Nationals in the second Cheap Green Bay Packers Jerseys inning due to the injury and was later placed on the 10-day disabled list.
The headliner for the Chiefs 2017 draft was a trade up to take Patrick Mahomes with the No. 10 pick. That’s a developmental play that does little to help the team win now and will hamstring them in the 2018 draft. They doubled down on the future by taking Villanova project Tanoh Kpassagnon in the second round. Kpassagnon is talented, but raw. If he and Mahomes reach their ceilings, it will be a major win for the Chiefs — but that won’t happen for a few years, at least, and Kansas City needed Discount Code For Cheap Jerseys to add impact players for 2017.
The Cleveland Cavaliers matched the greatest comeback in NBA playoff history on Thursday, spinning a 26-point deficit into a 119-114 Game 3 victory over the Indiana Pacers. They did it behind LeBron James, whose masterful second half produced a triple-double of 41 points (on 14-of-27 shooting), 13 rebounds, and 12 assists, to take a 3-0 series lead over the Pacers with the threat of sweeping them in Indiana in Game 4.
James put together one of history’s amazing basketball stories without his All-Star teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, who were on the bench much of Cleveland’s run. Instead, Tyronn Lue surrounded The King with shooters, as James led a Cavaliers offense that outscored Indiana, 70-40, in the second half.
And they’ve taken a five-point lead going to the same lineup here in Game 4 after trailing much of the first half.
The lineup forced the Pacers to defend James and each shooter Design Cheap Jerseys Online straight up much of the fourth quarter. That gave the world’s best player clear sight lines to the rim.
